Real Country. Real Music. Real Life.
Some people find country music. For Chipp Burg, country music helped him find his way through life.
Long before the stages, microphones, and original songs, there was a little boy growing up in the farmlands of Ohio who loved to sing. Chipp was singing before he could talk. His mother believed he would become a singer and even enrolled him in lessons. But when Chipp was eight, a tragic car accident took the lives of his mother and seven-year-old sister. He never returned to those lessons. Instead, music became something far more personal: a place to heal.
Growing up wasn't easy. Through painful years and difficult turns, singing helped keep him grounded. Country music gave him peace and connection. Its stories of family, heartbreak, faith, hard work, and second chances felt like stories he understood.
In high school, Chipp proudly embraced being a “choir geek.” He sang in choir all four years, performed with the Troubadours show choir, competed in state music competitions, and played the prince in a school production of Cinderella. After graduation, he joined a church praise team and eventually led worship with the Christian rock band Red Inc.
When vocal cord polyps threatened his ability to sing, he wondered if his voice would ever be the same. But his voice—and his love for music—kept going.
In 2011, Chipp answered another calling and began a career in law enforcement. Serving his community became an important part of who he was, but music never stopped calling. In 2016, he joined Smule, recording duets with strangers who became friends—many of whom remain in his life today.
After the end of a 15-year marriage in 2020, music again helped him navigate a difficult chapter. Singing at local karaoke venues rekindled his joy in performing—and reconnected him with a former coworker who became his wife in November 2021. She has since inspired many of the songs he writes.
In 2022, Chipp began performing solo shows around Fredericksburg and Prince William County, Virginia. The opportunities grew until he was turning down dates. He knew it was time to build the full band he'd always imagined and take the music further.
Behind every step are people who believed in him: family, friends, fans, and supporters who encouraged him, helped fund recordings, invested in road equipment, and showed up for the music. He hasn't forgotten any of it.
Chipp remains proud of his law enforcement service. Someday, he hopes to hang up his badge with honor and take to the road sharing the songs and stories that carried him this far.
The little boy whose mother believed he would become a singer is still chasing that dream. Only now, he has a lifetime of stories to tell.
